As many of you know, I lost 170 pounds a couple of years ago.  I am now finishing my new book, Paralegal to Paradise: 170 Pounds Lost & Happiness Found.  In the meantime, I'd love to help anyone who has questions about weight loss and how I did it.  Please keep in mind that I am not a doctor, nutritionist, or an expert.  Well, I am an expert in my weight loss, how I did it and how to follow your intution and become the person you really are.  So from my experience, I can do my best to help you too!

Here are some affirmations I posted in another section here:

My weight loss and law of attraction website is here:

Sierra,
I gained 20lbs after going thru a really hard time at my last job about a year and a half ago. I was so depressed and angry over the injustice which was directed towards me. My doctor put me on prosac, but after taking it for 2 weeks I stopped because I was walking around like a zombie. I have tried to lose this weight for about a 1 year now. I exercise and diet, but I have not lost 1 lb. I have toned up and feel good, just know that I need to lose this weight. I am not sure what to do next, I know that my vibration must be out of whack in this area, because I am diligently working on this problem. Any insight you might have will be greatly appreciated.

Hi Elsa!

As I mentioned above, I am not any kind of medical expert and every one's body is different.  So, I will tell you what I did because I don't want to tell you what is right for your body.  Only you know that.  I asked God/Source to reveal to me the best program/products for my body to lose weight.  This is what I wrote in my journal:

Dear God.  I need your help.  It is time for me to lose weight. Please guide me to the right weight loss plan, methods and products for me.  I am divinely guided in this situation and I know all I need to know NOW about what to do to lose weight quickly and safely.  I cannot do this by myself but God can and is creating miracles here and now.  Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!

What came up over and over for me was the green tea. I searched on the internet and found the one that called to me. I ordered it immediately. Here's a link to the thread that I wrote about the green tea that I use. http://www.iam-iam-iam.com/atlantis/forum25/46.html

I also was very attracted to the South Beach Diet and ordered the book.  I took from that what resonated for me.  I did not follow South Beach exactly, but things I read in the book changed my mind about how I was thinking about protein.  I have been vegetarian for over 20 years, and I realized that I wasn't getting enough protein.  I added more fresh fish and eggs to my diet.  My weight started to drop off very quickly.

It sounds as if you are holding onto the injustice of how you were treated.  I know how that feels, but it is so freeing to let it go.  Don't let anyone affect your connection to Source.  That is giving over your power to others.  No one can do anything to you that you didn't attract into your experience.  So maybe do some work around feeling unjustly treated and let that go.

I hope that helped.  Feel free to ask me anything else!!

Sierra,
Thank you for the advise, regarding the injustice. I downloaded a self hypnosis mp3 on Increase your Emotional Intelligence. It is helping me get to a healthier place in my mind. I am using the inspired quote you wrote in your journal, because it all makes sense to me. I will let you know or see what happens.

My understanding from the teachings of Abraham is that for anything, you need to do the emotional journey first - and then take action when inspired.  Same with weight loss.

I would like my journey to be Abraham guided and I know that my rocket of desire has launched - it's out there - and my Inner Being has already become that which I seek - and I get that my work now is to align with my desire.

I guess what I'm doing is looking for evidence that what I'm doing is working and when I don't see the evidence, I beat myself up by saying I'm not really aligning - I'm doing it wrong - and then I hear Abe say "but you can't get it wrong" - and, brother!  I'm just spinning in circles!

Abraham says we have the power to create worlds, to change a condition overnight - and I believe that whole heartedly.  So where's my magic wand?  Why isn't this working for me?

I can't imagine saying affirmations will change the 'deep down' stuff.  Does it?

Thanks,

Lauri

Hi Lauri!

It is ALL ABOUT taking action when inspired and not before!  Action journeys usually lead to contrast and upstream swimming, that's why diets do not work for most people as they are just using all the willpower they can muster and the diet only lasts as long as their willpower holds out.

That is why I asked God for help to lead me to the right tools for me to lose weight this time.  And I took the emotional journey.  I asked myself why I was overweight and what I was gaining (besides weight!) by being overweight.  This is from my book:

Write down all your excuses of why you are not doing what you want to be doing, and I mean ALL of them.  Write down everyone you blame for your present situation and why they are stopping you from living your dream life.  Write down all the reasons why you are not living the life of your dreams right now.  Write down your whole sad story.  Think of all the things in your life you have just settled for because you thought you couldn’t do or deserve better. Think of how much you let others control who you are and what you do.  Some examples are:

I am too busy taking care of the kids to work on me
My husband/wife/partner wont let me do what I want to do
It’s my parents’ fault for the way they raised me
I blame my wife/husband/teachers/sister/brother for the way my life is
I am just not that kind of person that can do those things
It’s my boss’ fault
My husband/wife left me and ruined my life
My teacher/parent/partner doesn’t understand me, in fact, no one understands me
My accident made me this way
My parents divorced when I was young and it was tragic for me
I was abused/raped
The drugs/medications I take make me this way
I was told I would never amount to anything and I believe it
I can’t do any better than my present boyfriend/girlfriend/husband/wife/partner
I can’t get a better job, at least I have one

Keep going until you feel you have written all the reasons why you are stuck or in the situation you are now.  Write them ALL down, this is for you and you don’t want to cheat yourself.  Remember you want the smorgasbord! Take your time and really think of why you don’t do what you want to do in life.  What is stopping you?  Who are you letting stop you?

Now, let’s get honest about the reasons you stay overweight.  Write them down on this same piece of paper.  I have listed some below.  See if you recognize yourself in any of these or can think of more:

Reasons for staying fat:

I want to keep people at a distance
I don’t have to do physical things
I don’t have to have sex
I have a fear of intimacy
I have an excuse for people not to like me
People feel sorry for me
It’s my Mom/Dad/Brother/Sister/Mate’s fault
Being fat fits my fat self image (that's the way I always have been and always will be)
I  eat "instead of" studying, cleaning, making that call, etc. (procrastinating)
I eat to cover up unresolved anger/depression, shove down your feelings
I don't have to compete in fashion, finding love
Not as much is expected of me if I stay overweight.
I stay fat because no one can tell me what to do  (it's one thing that is totally in my control)
Being fat is comfortable - I KNOW how to be fat, I don't know what it's like to be thin (fear)
I have very low self-esteem and feel undeserving
I feel that success is for the lucky people but not me
I believe that losing weight may require me to make a major life change (i.e., get a divorce, change jobs)
I fear that my friends wont like the new, confident me

I hope that helps.  Feel free to ask me more!  I am still working on the above lists, by the way, it is time to get my book done and out there!

Sierra,

Thanks for your reply, friend across the oceans!  It inspired me to open Abe's book, The Amazing Power of Deliberate Intent to the chapter on "Reclaiming One's Natural State of Health" (for when you're really down there on the Emotional Guidance Scale).  Reclaiming a thinner self definitely fits in with a natural state of health!

It says to write this list and when you first lie down, read it slowly to yourself:

(BLUE indicates a quote from the book (pg 205-209)

It is natural for my body to be well.

Even if I don't know what to do in order to get better, my body does.

I have trillions of cells, with individual Consciousness, and they know how to achieve their individual balance.

When this condition began, I didn’t know what I know now.

If I’d known then what I know now, this condition couldn’t have gotten started.

I don’t need to understand the cause of this illness.

I have only to gently, eventually, release this illness.

It doesn’t matter that it got started, because it’s reversing its course right now.

It’s natural that it would take some time for my body to begin to align to my improved thoughts of Well-Being.

There’s no hurry about any of this.

My body knows what to do.

Well-Being is natural to me.

My Inner Being is intricately aware of my physical body.

My cells are asking for what they need in order to thrive, and Source Energy is answering those requests.

I’m in very good hands.

I will relax now, to allow communication between my body and my Source.

My only work is to relax and breathe.

I can do that.

I can do that easily . . . .

Now, just lie there and enjoy the comfort of your resting place and focus on your breathing - in and out, in and out . . .  breathe deeply while still remaining comfortable.  Do not force it.  Do not try to make anything happen; there is nothing for you to do other than to relax and breathe.

You will very likely begin to feel soft, gentle sensations in your body.  Smile, and acknowledge that this is Source Energy specifically answering your cellular request.  You are now feeling the healing process.  Do nothing to try to help it or intensify it.  Just relax and breathe and allow it.

<snip>

Now, if you can, drift off to sleep.  Smile in your knowledge that All-Is-Well.  Breathe and relax – and trust.

Then there is an exercise which I applied to my weight:

I worry that because I have allowed my body to add so much extra weight, I don’t have the energy I once had and I can’t do the things I used to enjoy, and it may affect my health.  I feel unattractive and won’t do the things I want to do at a time where I want to be out enjoying the expansion life and expressing the person I really am.  I feel guilty, insecure, unworthy, depressed and powerless.

My body is flesh and bone, but it is also vibration.

The way my body looks and feels is a result of my vibration.

My body is as it is right now, and that is all right.

My body is continually changing, and that is all right.

My vibrational offering affects the changes in my body.

Excess weight is about vibration.

It is possible for me to improve my vibration.

Staying heavy is neither natural nor necessary.

I do not have to wait for others to know this or demonstrate this.

I can begin now, or whenever I choose, to demonstrate this.

A shift in my vibration won’t give me instant physical evidence.

A shift in my vibration WILL give me instant emotional evidence.

Once I achieve a vibrational shift and stabilize there, I’ll see evidence.

I’m willing to shift my vibration and wait for physical evidence.

Feeling better emotionally will be adequate evidence for now.

Finding and maintaining positive expectancy is wonderful.

I can feel my body benefiting from my newfound ease.

I can feel the stability of my physical body.

I can feel the life-giving qualities of my new Energy Alignment.

I can feel that I’m coming into Energy Balance.

I can feel how much my body enjoys my Energy Balance.

All is well with me right now – and getting better still…

“Remember, the manifestation always follows the vibration, and 99.99 percent of every creation is already complete before there is any physical evidence.  Focus upon your Emotional Journey and find improvement there; and the physical, Action Journey must follow.  It is law!  There is no exceptions to this!”

I can't wait to get started!  Will keep you informed....

 ty22 and Aloha!

Lauri

Another aspect to take into consideration is "what is the higher purpose of having the weight?"  Everything we do or don't do starts from a good intention and manifests into a behavior using the 'tools' we have available at the time.  Behavior is merely a pattern or strategy of how we do what we do, so in order to really change the behavior we need to understand what the purpose of the behavior truly is.

So, for example, excess weight may be tied into a self-esteem issue where a person feels like they are over-looked, or pushed around by others perhaps making them feel like they are unimportant, insignificant, or invisible.  Gaining and holding onto additional weight therefore becomes a way to create a phyiscal presence making it difficult to be overlooked or pushed around.  The answer may lay in learning to speak up for yourself; or perhaps taking some courses of an educational nature (if you feel others 'know' more than you).  Even joining organizations like Toastmasters will help create a level of confidence that is likely to help.  When you address the higher purpose and find a new strategy to support it, it then becomes easier to drop the old strategy (holding onto weight) in favor of the new strategy.

This goes both ways ~ you may be holding onto the weight because you are afraid that if you are thin and attractive, you won't be taken seriously in the work force or that people will think you got by on your looks rather than your knowledge.

As Sierra mentioned, it can also be tied to emotional issues.  Excess weight is the body's way of creating a barrier for the emotional body.  A layer of protection so to speak, protecting you from being hurt emotionally by not allowing people to get too close (literally).   This can also be tied into how well you are creating and maintaining your personal boundaries.

One last thing to consider is 'where' the weight is.  Upper body, lower body, specific areas, or all over.  Where the majority of the weight is on the body is also an indication of what kind of issues it is connected to.

Once you know the higher purpose, you can then consciously create a new strategy to support that purpose, making it easy to not only change the behavior, but also to drop the weight!

Blessings

Bren, that was a great post!  It made me think about why I have all this extra fat....I know for me I am protecting my emotional body.  I don't know why I still feel the need to do this-- I am in a great relationship (two, actually!) I am abundantly wealthy, I have a great job.....but my BODY does not reflect any of that.

I am feeling inspired to work on a strategy to get that body that is in my Virtual Escrow!!

Hi Bren,

So true about finding your "highest purpose for being overweight".  We stay overweight because there is something we are "gaining" by doing so.  That's why I put those lists that I posted above in my book, so that people can look at the list and look within themselves to find the benefits they are receiving by continuing to hold on to the weight.  There is always a benefit or people wouldn't stay stuck there.  To really lose weight in a more permanent manner, it is essential to deal with the issues as to why you overeat.  Otherwise it just becomes a game of "willpower" and the diet only lasts as long as the willpower holds out.

We are looking for lifelong changes here, and to get there, you have to be willing to look at your emotional reasons for overeating and the benefits you receive from doing so.  Then you have to be willing to do the work to change your beliefs and feelings around those issues and make it MORE BENEFICIAL to be thin than overweight in your mind.  It's all inside of you!!

So one of the keys is to find your higher purpose in life, because when you are inspired and following your path and FEELING WORTHY, food just isn't as important anymore!!

tu22

Thanks so much for your participation, Bren!

Hi Sierra, yes, I agree there is a gain otherwise we would not hold onto the weight. In some cases the Gain is more important to the person than the Pain of having the weight (or illness) and that is why they do not release the weight (or heal) whatever the case may be.

I referred to Higher Purpose based on strategy from an NLP perspective where we are out to change behavior that is in direct conflict with what the person wants.  So, they may seriously want a relationship and may in fact HAVE a relationship, but are unable to lose the weight.  It may be that they may have an underlying fear of commitment which is actually a fear of being hurt emotionally. The weight in this case, then acts as layer of protection against being hurt rather than a way to avoid a relationship. The body protecting the emotional body using the strategy that was probably created after a relationship break up during the teen years. Remember we create strategies with the tools we have at that time, so if you experienced a break up when you were 18 that devasted you at the time, it's likely you are using that same strategy even if it's 20 years later & you're 20 yrs. smarter and now have new tools you could be applying.

The other considerations to take into account are the limiting beliefs we are raised with or that we create in our lives.  Often these are things that we may not buy into on a conscious level, but that we believe on an unconscious level and they too need to be examined and released.

So if you were raised in a family that said things like "our family has always had to watch their weight" or "our family struggles with weight issues" then it's likely that this is what you believe at a cellular level and therefore it's the belief your body functions on even if you don't consciously believe it to be true.

Same applies for the limiting beliefs we create ourselves "It's hard to lose weight" or "it's hard to lose weight after the age of X" or "I have to give up all the foods I enjoy in order to maintain a certain weight".  Because these are more in the realm of unconscious thought, the easiest way to find them is to watch how you speak about your weight as you'll be surprised and enlightened by the words you use.   Are you struggling to lose the weight?  Are you "Trying" to lose the weight?  Just as a side note "try" actually means to fail; as Yoda once said "You either DO or you DON'T there is no try".

Your book sounds like it's going to be not only inspiring but informative!  Is it going to be published soon?

Sierra,

Thank you so much for being such an inspiring bright light!

Between the I Am game, reading your story, and some other things brought to my attention, I am ready to re-start my journey to health and skinny-dom.

Last year I tried twice to shed the weight.  I realized at the time that it is just as much a journey of the spirit and mind as it is the body.  That was huge for me.

In 1994, I used WW and reached my goal of 40 extra pounds. It was mostly a physical journey.  I kept it off until 1999, when I was pregnant with my son.  I gained it back and then some!

I completely agree with you that it is a personal journey, you must find that thing that motivates you and you must discover why we held onto the weight.  I know there is much that comes up for me when I reach a certain point and wham, back to the old eating habits.

I have this unshakeable confidence that I will make it on this journey.  I'm ready to do the work necessary because not only will if change me physically, it will change me in a myriad of ways.  Woo hooo!

Thank you for being YOU!

Namaste,
Tracy

Hi Bren and Tracy and ALL,

Yes, your beliefs around food and yourself are a major part of this.  I asked some "naturally" thin people what were their thoughts around food.  The answers were "I can eat anything and I wont get fat", "I don't really think about it", "whatever I eat makes me thin".   They just never consider that food will make them fat and don't feel guilty about eating anything.

It is also your vibration around what you are eating.  If you are on a diet and hating it, hating eating carrots, hating feeling deprived, that doesn't help much either and is actually unhealthy.  Abraham has a ton of quotes around this which I wont post here, but as we are vibrational beings, what we put into our bodies and how we feel about it also affects our vibration.

Tracy, you are so welcome and we are all with you.  You are not alone and all the answers you need and everything you need to know to do this is coming to you now!!!  You are divinely guided.

I think you are just the cat's meow and I am so lucky I found you. I found Marilyn on a teleseminar and she really helped me(Bless her) but Sierra, I have to say your heart is in the right place. I love you and I think you and Tiger Wood's have the best smiles. Marilyn talked about you in the teleseminar and she said that everything that you've obtained you gained it all by using the Law of Tithing. Can you elaborate?

Hi MissTeresa!!

ty22ty22ty22 for the beautiful things you said about me!!!!  That was really, really nice to wake up to!!!  ahug22

Marilyn is AWESOME and I AM so appreciative of what she taught me over 15 years go, it is what got me to where I AM now.

As Marilyn teaches it, tithing is the act of giving 10 percent of what make to where you get your spiritual guidance.  I have found tithing to be very affective in opening up your flow of money because you are saying "I have enough to give".  However if you tithe out of obligation or guilt, it does not work in the same way.    Check out the affirmations from Catherine Ponder that I posted here.  They are super great for prosperity!

and there is more from Catherine Ponder here:

Can you explain what Green Tea does for you, how often you drink it, and how one brand differs from another?  And, can you drink it iced?

Hi Lauri,

Yes, I will be happy to as I drink my tea at this moment!!

For me, the green tea helps with my metabolism, fat burning, appetite and energy in general.  I drink it hot because I believe for me it helps with regulating my body in many ways.  You can drink it cold too.  As far as brands, I can only say that the one I use works wonders.  It comes direct from Japan.  I can't imagine that the pills and Lipton type brands are the same, but I can't say from experience.

Here's a link to a post I made about green tea and the website where I buy it.

HI Guys,

I posted this on the Abe Yahoo list today in response to an asking, and I thought I'd repost it here just in case anything resonates for you!

I lost 170 pounds "pre Abe," (has it really only been since late August that I discovered Abe?) although being a mostly natural Aber my whole life, I did use Abe like processes.

Concentrating on how my body was at the time was definitely upstream for me, so I always pictured myself how I wanted to be. As I huffed and puffed up the stairs, I pictured myself skipping up them (now I do!). As I saw cute clothes I wanted to wear in a size 5, I bought the same or similar thing in my current size and wore it with confidence, knowing I would have it in my preferred size soon (now I do!). I always made sure I felt good about myself and didn't walk around in frumpy sweats. I became who I wanted to be before I was and now I am!! You have already gotten really good advice.
Do not concentrate on your weight, but on who you want to become. Be, do, have it NOW.

I also made a list of all the issues I had around being thin. And there are always issues, otherwise you would already be there. Do you have a fear of intimacy? Do you unconsciously want to keep people away? What are you gaining by staying overweight? What does being overweight allow you to do?
What are your fears around being thin? It is good to find your resistance in these areas and work on them little by little.

It is also important not to give a rip what anyone else thinks and fall into society's view of what a body should look like. I know many people who are perfectly happy and healthy being overweight, that's just who they are and they are at peace with it. Find peace with yourself and your body NOW, live "as if" and you will see the weight come off naturally. Find your joy, find your inspiration and food becomes less important. When I am really inspired, I can even forget to eat when I am working on a project.. Can you imagine that?

Most of all, go easy on yourself, this is a process, you are doing great, you are on the path, everything is happening as it should. It always does. Let the Universe take over and stop trying to do it all yourself. You have the guidance and the magic of the Power that Creates Worlds always within you.

Hi Sierra ~

I saw your link for the Japanese Green Tea and I want to order some. I saw there are several different varieties though. Is there one you prefer over the others or are they all the same?

Hi Pamela,

I would choose the one that feels best to you, but I always get the Uji Green Tea bags for traveling and daily I use the Uji Gyokuro Gyoku-Hou, I just love the flavor!

Let me know how you like it and how it works for you!

Without a doubt, my weight reflects how I am feeling about myself as I use food to stuff things down when I am not saying what I want to say or doing what I want to do or otherwise cutting myself off from my vibrational escrow.  For me, excess weight is a symptom of NOT BEING WHO I REALLY AM.

After the cruise, and then after my trip to Sedona, I noticed I was eating more than usual, and I finally realized that I needed to deal with my "let down" after all the anticipation and excitement of waiting and thinking about and pre-paving those two major events for me.  I wrote it all out, processed it through and am now back and stronger than ever before I could do major damage.

After all the weight I have lost, I am determined to not go back there ever again so now I quickly catch myself when I am using food as an excuse to not be WHO I REALLY AM and disconnect myself from true Source Connection.

It is an on going process, but now I catch it faster and with the tools I have learned to use, I work through the reasons I am over eating and get myself back to the thin person I REALLY AM.

It literally is a matter of figuring out WHAT IS EATING AT ME, when I begin to overeat!

THERE IS SO MUCH LOVE HERE FOR YOU!

YOU ARE PERFECT WHERE YOU ARE AND HOW YOU ARE!  WHERE YOU ARE IS THE JUMPING OFF PLACE FOR BIGGER AND BETTER THINGS!

HI All,

As some of you know, my weight loss story is being featured in a forthcoming book called LIVING THE LAW OF ATTRACTION.  It is a compilation of several stories from people who have had success using the Law of Attraction in their lives.

The book is by good friends, Robin and Rich (see Robin's post about her Law of Attraction book for Parents).  Bob Doyle has written the Forward and will promote the book.

There is also an audio program that will go with the book.  Bob Doyle is promoting this audio program also.

Today I recorded my interview with Rich!  Here is the link so you all can listen in!

I think I did a ROCKIN' job if I don't say so myself!!
